Photopea Text Tutorial: 8 Simple Text effects for Beginners
This Photopea text tutorial will show you 8 simple text effects that can also be applied to Photoshop.
One of photopea’s greatest features is its type tool. You can type with it you can change font size and style, and that’s just the beginning, but the most impressive feature is the blending options feature, which allows a user to create a fully customized text effect.
Many people have trouble making text effects inside photopea. They think it’s very difficult, but that’s not the case. So I created 8 text effects that can help you learn and create your text effects. Don’t worry, it is very simple to follow, and I have explained every tiny detail. Following my tutorial, you will just need to replicate my effect, and then you will be able to create your design. So buckle up and let’s get started.

Text Effect Design # 1
FIRST, create a project and import a black and white background for our text, go to the file and select open and then select background OR use shortcut ‘ctrl+o’.
now go to edit from the menu bar and select copy
and then go to new project PSD and paste background again goto edit and this time select paste OR for copy use shortcut ‘ctrl+c’ and or paste use ‘ctrl+v’.
now check transform control and reposition background in the center of the project.
now we need to blur the background so go to filter and select blur then select lens blur.
now we don’t need to change any value here just click OK and the lens blur will be applied to our selected background.
now select the type tool from the toolbar
and then change the font style to Capriola and click on our project and type a text.
now select text by double click on the text and changing size to ‘196’. now select the move tool and reposition text in the center of the project.
now right-click on the text layer and go to the blending option
now check stroke and type ‘0’ in size and change color from the color picker to ‘f7c0d4’ and click OK.
now check inner glow and type ‘100’ in opacity and type ’15’ in size and change color to ‘ff92bb’ from the color picker and click OK.
now check color overlay and change color to ‘ff3d85’ from the color picker and click OK.
now check the outer glow and type ’60’ in opacity and type ’25’ in size and change color from the color picker to ‘ff3d85’ and click OK.
so this is how you can create a simple glow text effect. now save this as PSD if want to use this in future projects, go to file and save as PSD and save this project.
finally, you can change the text by double click on the text layer and typing the text you want.
Text Effect Design # 2
For this text, the effect keeps the background from the previous project and selects the type tool and keeps the font style and font size, and now types a text.
Now right-click on the text layer and select blending options
now check gradient overlay and now select gradient overlay and click on the gradient map
now add points here just click to add a point just do it for three-time.
now Select the first point and select color picker and paste this color value ‘311b00’ now select the second point and select picker and change color value to ‘ffc700’ now select the third point and select picker and change color value to ‘703d00’ now select the fourth point and select picker and change color value to ‘ffbb00’ now select the fourth point and select picker and change color value to ‘512c00’.
Now select the second point and change its position to ‘75%’ now select the third point and change its position to ‘46%’ now select the fourth point and change its position to ‘26%’ and click OK.
Now change the angle to ‘-73’ and change the scale to ‘368%’ and change off y to ‘10%’.
now check the bevel and emboss and change the depth to ‘254%’ and change the size to ‘0 px’ change the upper angle to ’62’ and lower to ‘0’ and now change the lower mode opacity to ‘0’.
now check the contour and change its range to ‘1%’ and click OK.
Now right-click on the text layer and convert it into a smart object.
Now click the adjustment layer icon and select brightness/contrast.
Now double click on brightness/contrast layer and change brightness to ’20’ and contrast to ‘-10’.
now right-click on the brightness/contrast adjustment layer and select clipping mask.
Now if you want to change the text just double click on the smart object layer.
double click on the text layer and change text and then select move tool and just use shortcut ‘ctrl+s’ and your text will be updated.
Now save it as PSD for future projects.
Text Effect Design # 3
For this third text select the type tool and change font style to ‘dela gothic one’ and change the font size to ‘196’ and align the text in the center of the project.
Now type a text and right-click on the text layer and select blending options.
now check drop shadow and select drop shadow in the blending options. Now change opacity to’53%’ and change distance angle to ‘105’ and distance to ’19 px’ finally change the size to ‘7 px’.
Now check color overlay in blending options and change color from color picker to this ‘ffcd1e’ color value ‘ffcd1e’ just copy this value and paste it in hex in the color picker.
Now check the stroke and its size to ‘3 px’ and change its color to this color value ‘ffda59’ just copy this value and paste it in hex in the color picker.
Now check the bevel and emboss and change its depth to ‘1000%’ and its size to ’27 px’ now change its upper angle to ‘105’ and its lower angle to ‘0’. Now change upper mode opacity to ‘74%’ and change its lower mode to ‘100%’.
Now check contour and change its range to ‘1%’ and now click OK.
Now you can change this text anytime. Now save this project as PSD for future projects.
Text Effect Design # 4
For this text select the type tool and change its font style to ‘coiny’ and its size to ‘196’ now type a text and align it in the center of the project.
Now right-click on the text layer and select blending options.
now check the color overlay and change its color value to this value ‘fff81e’ just copy this color value and paste it in hex of the color picker and click OK.
Now right-click on the text layer and convert it into a smart object.
Now duplicate text smart-object layer just right click on the smart-object layer or just select this layer and use shortcut ‘ctrl+j’.
Now select the upper smart-object text layer and change its fill value to ‘0%’.
and now right-click on this layer and select blending options and check the stroke and change its value to ‘2 px’ and change its color to this color value ” just and paste this value in hex of the color picker now click OK.
Now select the above smart-object layer and align this layer to the left side of the lower text and just slightly align it a little bit above the lower text.
Now if you want to change the text just double click on smart-object and change text and select move tool and use shortcut ‘ctrl+s’ and save this project as PSD to use this text in future projects.
Text Effect Design # 5
For this text click on the adjustment layer icon and select gradient fill.
now click on the gradient map
and in the gradient editor select the first color point and change the color to this color value ‘ff15eb’ copy this value and paste it in the color picker hex and click OK.
now select the second point and copy and paste this color value ‘ffb980’ in the color picker and click ok.
Now change the angle to ‘-62’ and scale value to ‘149%’ and change the off x to ‘38%’ and off y to ‘0’.
Now click on the properties icon to hide the gradient properties.
Now select the type tool and use the same font style ‘coiny’ and font-size ‘196’ now type a text and align text in the center of the project.
right-click on the text layer and select blending options and check the color overlay and change color to white.
Now select the rectangle shape tool or use the keyboard shortcut ‘U’
and draw a shape.
Now select the move tool and drag&drop the shape below the text layer.
Now right click on the shape layer and select blending options and check the color overlay and change the color to this color value ‘2e2e2e’ just copy&paste this value to the color picker hex.
Now select the folder icon from the bottom of the right side to create a folder.
Now select the text layer and shape layer and drag & drop them into the folder.
Now right-click on the folder and select blending options and check the stroke and change its size to ‘9 px’ and change its color to this color value ‘2e2e2e’ and click OK.
Now if you change the text then you need to resize the shape layer behind it to match with text size just check the transform control and select the shape layer and click and hold one of his points and resize it.
Text Effect Design # 6
For this text select the type tool and change its font style to ‘coda caption’ and its font size to ‘196 px’ and type a text.
Now select the move tool and right-click on the text layer and select duplicate layer.
Now select the above text layer and right-click on it and select blending options and check color overlay and change its color to ‘ff0000’ and click OK.
Now check drop shadow and change its opacity to ‘52%’ and its angle to ‘138’ and distance to ’19 px’ and spread to ‘22%’ and size to ’14 px’ now click OK.
Now right click on the lower text and right on the text layer and select blending options and check drop shadow. Now check color overlay and change its color to white and click OK.
Now select the below text layer and change its position to the slightly bottom of the project. Now select and above text layer and change its position to slightly top of the project.
Now save this project as PSD to this text for future projects.
Text Effect Design # 7
For this text click the adjustment layers icon and select gradient fill for soft background light for our black and white background.
Now change the angle to ‘-42’ and scale to ‘76%’ and off x to ‘18%’ and off y to ‘66%’.
Now click the properties icon to hide gradient properties.
Now select gradient fill adjustment layer and change blend mode to screen and change the opacity to ‘31%’.
Now select the type tool and change the font style to ‘coiny’ and size to ‘174 px’ and type a text and align it in the center of the project.
Now right-click on the text layer and select blending options and check inner shadow and set blend mode to screen and change color to this color value ‘ff8e41’ just copy and paste this value in the color picker hex. Now change the opacity to ‘100%’ and angle to ‘-86%’ and distance to ‘4 px’ and spread&size to ‘0%’
Now check the gradient overlay and change its opacity to ‘100%’ and click on gradient map. Now click in between this two-point to add a third point.
Click the first point and change its color to ‘ffcaa5 ‘.
now select the second point and change its color to’ff6700′.
and finally, select the third point and change its color to ‘a34d00’.
now select the second point and change its position to ‘33%’.
and select the first point and change its position to ‘93%’ and click OK.
Now check the reverse beside gradient map and change style to radial. Now change the angle to ‘0’ and scale to ‘89%’ and click OK.
Now right-click on the text layer and change it into a smart object.
Now right click on smart-object and duplicate it.
Now select the below smart object and right-click on it and select blending options and check the gradient overlay and select the gradient map and in gradient editor select the first point and change its color to ‘ffaf78’.
now select the second point and change its color to ‘7f3501’ and finally select the third point and change its color to ‘683100’
now select the second point and change its position to ‘57%’ and click OK.
Now check the bevel and emboss and change depth to ‘196%’ and change the size to ‘7 px’. Now change the above angle to ‘-86′ and change the below angle to ’30’. Now change the above mode opacity to ‘67%’.
Now check the contour and change its range to ‘79%’ and click OK.
Now click the adjustment layer icon and select brightness/contrast.
and change the brightness to ’32’ and contrast to ‘100’
now click the properties icon to hide brightness/contrast properties.
Now right click on the adjustment layer and select clipping mask so it will only affect our text.
Now if want to change text just double click on the smart-object layer and change the text then go to file and select save(smart-object) or use shortcut ‘ctrl+s’.
Now save this project as PSD to use for future projects.
Text Effect Design # 8
For this text effect, I have three versions. first, let’s select the type tool and change font style to ‘coda caption’ and size to ‘196 px’ and type a text.
Now right-click on this text layer and select blending options and check inner glow and change opacity to ‘100’ and change color to white and change spread to ‘100%’ and size to ‘3 px’.
Now check the gradient overlay and change its opacity to ‘100%’ and select gradient map now select the first point in gradient editor and change its color to ‘646464’
now select the second point and change its color to ‘ffffff’ and click OK.
Now change the angle to ‘-89’ and change scale to ‘30%’ and off y to ‘10%’.
Now check the drop shadow and change blend mode to ‘normal’ and change the opacity to ‘100’ now change color to this color value ‘3f2100’ now change the angle to ‘2’ and change the distance to ’12 px’ and change spread&size to ‘0%’ now click OK.
Now right-click on the text layer and duplicate the text layer.
Now select the text layer and align it in the center of the project. Now select the other text layer and align it at the bottom of the project.
VERSION 2
Now select the above text layer and right-click on it and select blending options and select drop shadow and change its color to ‘b45e00’ and uncheck the ‘use global angle’ and change the angle to ‘-1’ and change the distance to ‘9 px’.
Now uncheck the inner glow.
Now select the gradient overlay and select the gradient map and add a point.
Now select the first point and change its color to ‘ff850d’
now select the second point and change its color to ‘ffbb00’ and change its position to ‘49%’
now select the third point and change its color to ‘ffd2a6’ and finally click OK.
Now change the angle to ‘-89’ and scale to ‘85%’ and keep the off y to ‘10%’.
Now check the inner shadow and change its blend mode to ‘screen’ and change the opacity to ‘100’ now change its color to white. Now uncheck the ‘use global angle’ and change the angle to ‘110’ and change distance ‘7 px’ and change spread&size to ‘0 px’ and click OK.
Now select this text layer and right on it and duplicate this text layer
and align the copy of it on top of the project.
VERSION 3
Now select the top position text layer and right-click on it and select blending options and select gradient overlay and change its scale to ‘96%’ and off x & off y to ‘2 %’.
Now uncheck the inner shadow.
Now check the inner glow and change its opacity to ‘75%’ and change its color to ‘ffbd2c’. Now change spread to ‘100%’ and size to ‘3 px’.
Now check the bevel and emboss and change its depth to ‘669%’ and size to ’64 px’. Now change the above angle to ‘136’ and below the angle to ‘0’.
Now check the contour and change its range to ‘28%’ and click OK.
Now click on the folder icon to create a folder.
Now select all text layers and drag & drop them into the folder.
Now click on the adjustment layer icon and select brightness/contrast.
Now change the brightness to ’17’ and change the contrast to ’38’. Now right click on brightness and contrast layer and select clipping mask.
Now click on the properties icon to hide the brightness and contrast property.
Now add another brightness/contrast layer for background this time changing brightness to ‘-150′ and contrast to ’40’
now save this project as PSD for future projects.
In summary, as I mentioned at the beginning of this tutorial, it is not difficult to learn this as it is a simple process. Now that you understand these examples, you can create your effects, as these are unique examples.
