For example, The Resolution for youtube shorts is 1080×1080 or 1980×1080.

Clip Controls

So to customize clip properties you have selected the clip and in the top right corner, we have clip controls. You can increase or decrease the scale of the clip by using transform controls or you can use sliders. You can change the clip “position & Rotation“.

You can press the hold “ctrl key+use Mouse Scroll” on the keyboard to zoom in and zoom out of the preview screen. If you notice we have a small screen appear so you can use your “mouse scroll” you can press hold it on the preview screen and you can view something in your video in zoomed-in mode.

In clip controls we also have Canvas. so first I am going to change my aspect ratio to 1080 X 1080 by clicking on “customized“.

now you have to check the “Canvas” if it is not checked and now we have to select the blurred background as you can see it fulfills the gap in the video.

now you can also lower the “opacity” and you will have a Blur background.

Splice or Overlay

now let’s add another clip on top of this video. Now I am going to trim this video by clicking and holding the starting point of the clip and dragging it to the right side to trim the starting point of the video.

now I am going to place the cursor at the end of the video and  Press “Ctrl+B” it will split the clip where we have the cursor.

If you want to extract the audio of a video then you have to “right-click” on a clip and then you have to select “separate audio“. Now we will have a separate audio file and a separate video file.

So to add audio in CapCut we have to select an audio file we have to drag and drop into media or we can drop it directly in the timeline.

Now you can select your audio file, and you can change its volume you can add fade in, and you can add fade out to your audio you can also remove the background noise from audio or you can even add voice effects to your audio.

now we have two ways to reverse a clip in Capcut editor so first, we have to “right-click” on a clip we have to hover the cursor to “edit” and then we have to select “reverse” and it will reverse your clip after a couple of seconds.

Or you can select a clip and then you can click on the “play icon” right above the timeline it will also reverse your clip.

Stabilizer

So in order to stabilize you have to select your “clip” and in “basic” video properties we have a stabilizer feature. so you have to check to “stabilize” and have 3 levels First we have recommendations, 2nd we have the minimum, and Finally we have the most stable.

You can try each one by one depending on the shakiness of a clip to test which works better for your video.

Tracking

So in order to use tracking you have to first drag a clip or an element on top of an existing clip. In this example, I have a CapCut logo so I’m going to select the logo and first I’m going to change its position by selecting it on the preview screen and dragging it.

Now go to “tracking” properties and select “motion tracking” and yellow transform controls will appear on the preview window.

Now drag “tracking controls” to a point in your video which you want to track. In this example, I’m going to track this person’s head.

Now click on the “start button” at the bottom of the tracking window. After a few seconds, the tracking is done.

Now we can go to the “basic” properties of the logo and we can change its position and rotation etc.

Chroma Key

So to key out the green screen I have this example. First, select your clip, and now go to Video properties and go to “cutout“, and check the “chroma key“.

Below the chroma key, we have a color picker. Select the “color picker” and select the green screen or chroma key in your video.

After you select the green screen two sliders will appear “Strength and Shadow“. You can play around with sliders to achieve the best result and you can also “re-select” your chroma key with a “color picker“.

Now in this example, as you can see we have a background wall also so to get rid of that we have to “crop” that part from the video.

Remove Any Video Background

Now if you don’t have a chroma key then you can also remove any video background. Select your “clip” go to video properties and go to “cutout” below the chroma key we have “auto cutout” check it and your background will automatically remove.

Freeze Frame

In order to freeze a frame of a video first you have to drag the “timeline cursor” to the frame which you want to freeze and click on the “freeze frame icon” or you can “right-click” on the clip and go to “edit” and then select “freeze“.

Now we are going to add a stunning freeze frame effect so first remove the video background using “auto cutout“.

Now freeze a frame of a video and place that frame on top of your clip. Now trim the freeze frame where the next clip starts.

Now select the below track clip and “uncheck” auto cutout and We are Done.

Add Background

If you remove the video background or if you lower the scale of the video you can change your video background. So to add background first select your clip and go to the video properties if you scroll down at the end we have the “canvas” feature. Now if you click on “none” below canvas a drop-down menu will appear.

If you want to add a blurred background to your video then you can select “blur” and in a blur, you can select the strength of the blurred background.

Now if you want to add a simple color background then you can select a “color“.

Now if you want to add a stylized background, then you can select a “style“.

So this way you can add a different background in CapCut pc.

Text Behind Subject

So to place text behind the subject we have to duplicate the clip by pressing “Ctrl+C” and “Ctrl+V” and align the above clip according to the below track clip. Now select the above clip and go to video properties and go to cutout and check “auto cutout” and the video background will remove.

Now go to the text and add a “text” by clicking on the plus button or dragging the “default text” in the timeline.

Now select the text layer and go to properties and type a text.

You can also change “text style” by going into effects.

Now you can go to “animation” properties and you can go to “loop animation” and select an animation.

Now select the text layer and the main track video and right-click and select create a “compound clip“.

Now if you want to change the position of the text then you can right-click on the main track and select undo the compound clip

then change the position of the text and then again create a compound clip of these two.

Keyframe

There are so many animations in CapCut but if you want to add custom animation then you can add keyframes to animate. If you look closely at video properties you can spot “diamond shape-like” icons these are keyframes. you can click on it to add a keyframe when it turns blue it means it added.

then go a few frames ahead and change the “slider” of that keyframe to add an animation.

Now if you want to “delete” a keyframe then you can place the “timeline cursor” on that keyframe and then click on that “keyframe” in the properties of its slider and that keyframe will be removed.

Masking

now if you want to use masking in CapCut then you have to select your clip and then you have to go to the “mask” here we have these mask templates so you can select one and then you can change its border.

Example no.1

if you want to add a cinematic border add a keyframe in size

now let’s go a few frames ahead and change the border size.

Now if you want to invert the mask then you can click on the invert mask icon right above the mask templates.

Example no.2

Now by using a mask, we are going to create a clone effect so I have this example where I sit on a left chair, and in the next clip I sit on the right chair now we are going to place the second clip on top of the first clip and we can use a “split mask” and we can rotate it to portrait a clone effect.

Transition

Adding a transition in CapCut is very simple. first, you must have at least two clips then you have to go to “transitions” properties and here we have several transitions.

so to add a transition you have to place the “timeline cursor” between two clips and you have to select a “transition” that you want to add and that transition will be applied between them.

Now you can customize the transition duration from the properties if you want to.

Glitch Effect

Now we are going to add a stunning glitch effect by combining a few effects together. so go to the effects, and we have several glitch effects. I’m going to select (Cut Effect) so you can click on it and you can preview an effect. Now we are going to add multiple effects to create a smooth glitch effect. Now we can add (edgy effect) now I’m going to add (Cut effect) so as you can see it also download your effect if you have not used that effect. Now let’s add (Horizontal Glitch 2).

Now we can trim their duration one by one as shown.

Now if you want to select all these effects at once then we have to select all these effects and right-click and select group.

Now we select one it will select all these effects so we can press “Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V“. Now guys I’m going to ungroup these effects.

Now we can individually change their speed change their properties etc.

Motion Blur

So to add a motion blur, you have to go to the “effects” and go to the basic folder. And now we have this “motion blur” effect. And I’m also going to add the Edge Glow Effect.” Now I’m going to select my “motion blur” effect and I’m going to decrease the horizontal to “50% increase strength“.

Now Split motion blur effect as shown below, and you can play around with blur strength.

Now Goto “Effects” and add “Slanted Blur” Effect.

Now split the slanted effect as shown below and play around with its blur strength and rotation.

Zoom in & Zoom out

So adding zoom in and out is very simple. first, go to the “effects” and look for the “zoom lens” effect.

Now drag and drop this effect in the timeline and select the effect and change its “speed” and “zoom range” according to your taste.

Auto Caption

To add an auto caption in the CapCut editor you have to go to the “Text” and you have to go to the “auto caption” and you can also select a language. I’m going to select the English language. And if you have any current subtitles then you can also check the “clear Current subtitle” and it will clear all the subtitles and then click on “create“. Now it will automatically create the caption for this audio.

Now you can also edit subtitles afterward as shown below I said “chatgpt” and it writes “JGBT” so we can correct any spelling or word mistake on all the subtitles.

You can also apply a preset, and it will be applied to all the subtitles in the timeline.

Now if you want to change only one single subtitle preset not all the subtitles then you have to uncheck apply to all and select a preset and that change will only apply to that subtitle.

Now at the final, we can select all the subtitles, and we can add an “in-animation” so they start with an animation.

Text-to-Speech

To add a text to speech, you must have a Text Layer, so go to the “Text” add a “Default Text” and type a text.

Now go to the “text-to-speech” and here we have several voices. you can select one to listen to the preview of that voice and if you want to add an audio file of that voice then click on “start reading,” and an audio file will be added to the timeline.

How to Add Luts

First, search for “theresolvestore” and click on “30 free cinematic luts” or you can go to this URL: https://theresolve.store/30-free-cinematicx-luts-for-davinci-resolve/

After you download these lut extract these lut and open CapCut and go to adjustment and go to lut and import these lut.

In this window, you can customize your shortcuts. you can also switch to a different shortcut.

Velocity/Speed Ramp

If you want to use the Velocity/Speed Ramp Effect, then you have to select a clip, and you have to go to the “speed“. In Speed, we have normal, and we have a curve. So you have to go to the “curve,” and in the curve, we have different speed ramp curves you can select one.

You can also select “customized,” and you can customize the curve to add a speed ramp effect in the video.

The above part of the curve will increase clip speed and the below part will slow down the clip. so if you want to add a custom curve then you can add a “point from the bottom right side” of the curve you can select a point and you can drag it above or below.

Color Correction

First, select your clip and go to the “adjustment.” In adjustment we have Basic and we have “HSL.” In HSL, if I select yellow color, it will swap my yellow color If I increase or decrease the slider of the hue, it will increase or decrease the saturation of that color, and it will increase or decrease the brightness of that color.

Now if you go to “adjustment basic” you can customize sliders. You can increase or decrease these sliders to color-correct video.

You can also add a “filter” to color-grade videos.

You can also use “Lut” and you can check “skin tone protection” so it won’t affect the face in the video.

Export Video

First, click on the “export button“. And here we have two options. In video exporting, we have a resolution, bitrate codec, etc. And if you check “Export Audio“, it will also export the Audio Plus Video if you check these two.

In the export window, you can change file location you can customize export settings, and you can change the file name, etc. if you check only Video exporting or export audio it will only export video or audio only.
