How to Erase in a Straight line in Photopea – Quickly & Easily

Every human being makes mistakes, but in real life, we cannot fix them or erase them, but in software, we can. Software tools can be used to erase mistakes or anything else you wish to erase.

A stylus is necessary if you want to erase smoothly, but a mouse cannot erase smoothly. You will need to learn a few advanced techniques if you want to erase in a specific direction.

No matter whether you have a stylus or not, you can use a mouse for this technique. This tutorial will teach you how to erase in a straight line in photopea.com, so let’s get started.

Method No.1

First, I have two landscape backgrounds so we can see clearly that we are erasing in a straight line.

For this method, select ‘Eraser tool‘ from the toolbar or press keyboard shortcut ‘E‘.

Now you can change erase tool brush size, brush style, and hardness from the brush properties. For this tutorial, I used brush ‘hard mechanical 24 pixels‘ and brush size to ‘50px‘ and hardness ‘100%‘.

Now select the above background and use erase tool on it just press the left mouse click once on this background anywhere, and it will look like this.

Now to erase in a straight line, press ‘shift’ from the keyboard and press the left mouse click once in the distance from the first point, and it will erase in a straight line.

Method No.2

For this method first, select the above background and add a raster mask to it.

Now select the brush tool from the toolbar or use keyboard shortcut press ‘B‘.

Now you can customize the brush tools from brush properties. You can change brush style, brush size and brush hardness. For this tutorial, I used brush style ‘hard mechanical 24 pixels‘ and brush size to ‘60px‘ and hardness to ‘100%‘.

Now change the brush color to black from the color switcher from the bottom of the toolbar.

Now select the raster mask of the background.

Now use the brush tool only once on the background anywhere press mouse left click once and it will look like this.

Now press keyboard ‘shift‘ and use the brush tool only once in a distance from the first point and it will erase in a straight line.

Method No.3

For this method, I have two landscape backgrounds.

First, select the pen tool from the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut ‘p‘.

Now select the above background and draw a rectangle shape. First, add a point anywhere on the background then press ‘shift’ and add another point besides it, and just like these two-point, add another two points and connect them as shown below.

Now press mouse right-click and select make selection and a window will appear click ok.

Now go to the select from the menu bar and select inverse or use the keyboard shortcut ‘shift+ctrl+I

Now select the background and add a raster mask, and it will erase that area in a straight line.

Final Words:

Photopea is undeniably one of the best Free tools for photo editing, but it takes time to become a master. It’s not a big deal to erase a straight line in photopea.
